South Seneca High School

About

South Seneca High School is located at 7263 South Main Street Ovid, NY and it serves grades 9-12 in Seneca County. Students receive instruction in art, music, physical education, library and computer skills in addition to the regular classroom curricula. All instruction is guided according to the standards set by New York State. Character education is continuous throughout the year. Respect, responsibility, citizenship, honesty and compassion are woven in daily lessons. Children are taught to be responsible for their own actions.

The school mission is to make the transition from childhood to adolescence and from the elementary grades to the high school a positive period of intellectual and personal development. The school provides a course of study that is comprehensive, challenging, purposeful, integrated, and standards-based in which New York State Assessments are administered in ELA and Math for all of the students as well as State Assessments in Science.

Students have the opportunity to learn at a school that is organized and structured to promote both academic and personal development; teachers who have a thorough understanding of their subjects and of the students they teach, a support system that targets both academic achievement and personal development; and an educational setting that values continuous improvement and ongoing professional learning for both students and parents.
