Samuel J. Tilden High School

About

Samuel J. Tilden High School philosophy encourages close communication with parents and community members to provide the best possible experience for students. Teachers know that in order to succeed in college or the work world, students must be provided with a challenging and meaningful educational experience at school. Students need to learn long, complex, and difficult things in school. They need to be able to learn in deep ways: to improvise, innovate, and challenge them; to develop concepts, skills, and relationships that will allow them to explore new worlds; to experience learning as a source of enjoyment and as a way to explore and discover who they are. Academic programs are enhanced with special area instruction in music, art, library, and physical education. There is an overall commitment to maintaining high academic standards and to encouraging students to develop their own unique talents. It is the goal to continually expand the experience of our students and to teach them to respect their own uniqueness as well as the uniqueness of others.
