Ronkonkoma Middle School staff is very creative and they have developed an Academic Interdisciplinary Period or (AIP) that eliminates the need for many of the pullout programs and provides an interlude for students to focus on their special interests or needs. A particular concern at this Middle School is that students exhibit the ability to understand the writing process and display mastery before they graduate and advance to high school. Other top concerns are the refinement of reading, listening, and critical thinking skills. Education is geared toward areas that include problem solving, computer literacy, technology, hands-on science exploration, and creative expression. Programs have been developed in each area that allow for student achievement, thereby strengthening self-esteem. The goal of the teacher and other staff members is to provide all students who attend a mastery of basic reading, writing and computational skills that are the foundation of all other learning.
