P.S. 73 Thomas Boyland School has a classroom size of 25 with total attendance of 581. It is situated in Brownsville neighborhood of New York. This school is the oldest school in New York City that is still operational. The school is housed in a 19th century building. The basement is the café that the teachers have named “The Dungeon”. When the new principal took over things weren’t the best. Kids were out of control and no one seemed to care. Since she took over as principal in 2004 she has made a vast improvement in everything, from classroom curriculum to student’s obedience. Many of the children are from signal parent homes so they work harder to help them both professionally and personally. They are always there for their students. They only have a few activities including chorus and a chess club. Money is always a problem but they work through it.
