P.S. 42 Occupational Training Center is located at 2495 Main Street Buffalo, NY. This New York State School is committed to providing a well rounded curriculum designed to meet the needs and interests of our students. Education at this school starts at grade level 4 and continues through the 10th in Erie County, of New York State. The Occupational Training Center is unique in the Buffalo Public School District.
The motto, “Training for Tomorrow,” reflects our mission to assist young adults ages 18 – 21 to acquire independent job responsibilities and to take part in useful, real-life vocational experiences. Guided by this mission, our teachers and aides, assisted by a staff of Vocational Trainers, conduct intense, data-based, on-the-job training with each student until a high level of competency is attained.
OTC students are engaged in a variety of community based experiences in local retail, business and workshop environments. An important component of our program involves Metro Rail and Bus travel training to assist our students in achieving mobility independence in the community. On any given day our students are traveling and working throughout the Buffalo and suburban areas, many of whom are completely independent.
