P.S. 396 provides the children with a richly rewarding educational experience in the areas of art, music, and computer. Academic excellence is expected of all students as they forge ahead in their academic pursuits. The staff analyzes state and local test results as a means of changing curriculum and instruction. Technology integration and activities that provide opportunities for problem solving, students at every grade level gradually become accountable for their own learning. Literacy programs also include a Leveled Library designed to individualize instruction. A Read Aloud component increases comprehension and higher order thinking skills. Students in grades K – 4 are also working with an exciting handwriting program.
