P.S. 290 Juan Morel Campos School takes pride in helping students become self-confident, healthy, responsible, and productive. Subjects meet the needs and talents of the student population including the basic educational needs of Math, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The School PTA works to bring into closer relation the home and the school, where parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth. They act as a bridge between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education. The teachers involve the children actively in many meaningful, functional language experiences, including speaking, listening, writing and reading. Teachers acknowledge the differences in language and cultural backgrounds and emphasize reading as an integral part of the total curriculum.
