P.S. 150 basic curriculum includes instruction in reading, phonics, language arts, spelling, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition, children attend physical education, art, and music classes. It is the department's philosophy that each individual area, while comprehensive and challenging, supports the foundations of knowledge found in all three areas. The administration serves as the coordinator and harmonizer for the students, faculty and community. With these roles in mind, the goal is that each student shall have an opportunity to become an effective member of a democratic society. Teachers know that mathematics is an intellectual pursuit in its own right, a source of fascination, challenge, and enjoyment. The exploration of patterns and relationships, the satisfaction of solving problems, the appreciation of designs and shapes and an awareness of the historical and cultural influences that have shaped modern mathematics can contribute to the child’s enthusiasm for the subject.
