Montessori School 31 children are shown a basic concept and then guided to build on that idea. Arranging groups of objects from left to right, top to bottom, large to small, concrete to abstract, forms a pattern that children carry over naturally to reading, writing, and calculating. Each skill is developed to interlock with another. The children learn each segment at their own pace, and move on to the next as each one is mastered.
A solid academic foundation is provided in a stimulating environment. Montessori instructional materials allow children to learn at their own pace through discovery activities Art, music, literature and philosophy are integrated into the instructional program The child-centered learning environment fosters a strong sense of community and commitment for students, parents and staff. Children entering the school after pre-kindergarten must be previously enrolled in a certified Montessori program.
Montessori is a method of education named after Dr. Maria Montessori. Montessori education has worked in every culture throughout the world, with children from every level of intellectual ability and economic background. As more and more schools incorporated core elements of her model—multi-age classrooms, early childhood education— Montessori became widely recognized as being ahead of her time. Remarkably, her visionary ideas remain viable concepts that have profoundly influenced the entire educational landscape.
