High School for Youth and Community Development know that when parents, youth, and community members are trained as leaders and are knowledgeable about education issues, and when they are organized to work together, they are able to play the dual roles of powerful supporters and advocates of educational change. An organized community develops tight-knit school and community relationships and provides many resources to neighborhood schools. They hold schools and school officials publicly accountable and advocate and support increased equity, improved instruction, and a school climate conducive to learning. Students will develop the early skills needed to use technology well and the ability to use it wisely. Teachers work closely with administration, grade levels, and departments to ensure that curriculum is continually being reviewed, evaluated, and adjusted to meet the needs of students. Additionally, staff analyzes state and local test results as a means of changing curriculum and instruction.
