Fredonia Middle School is located at 425 East Main Street Fredonia, NY. This Middle School provides education for grades 6 through 8th for the community of Fredonia and its apart of the Fredonia Central School District. In 1979 the Village of Fredonia celebrated its 150th birthday. The current village of Fredonia has origins stretching back to more than two hundred years ago when the Western New York area was surveyed by the Holland Land Company in 1798. Many historic events highlight Fredonia's past: the first natural gas well in the United States (1821); a visit by General Lafayette in 1825; the first Grange, established in 1868; and the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) founded here in 1873.
Fredonia Middle School music program is designed as an extension of the elementary curriculum. Students will continue to explore the basic elements of music including rhythm, melody, harmony, form, timbre, dynamics, and lyrics. Students will also create, notate and perform music using voice, and various melodic, rhythmic and electronic instruments. Through listening and discussion, middle school students will study a basic repertoire of major composers, compositions, and the historical development of such music. They will also study the development of American Popular Music, and the musicians and technology responsible for its development.
Staff, teachers, parents, and the community strive to provide the best in educational tools and a caring staff that works right along side one another for the betterment of not only the educational opportunities but the pride of living in rural New York.
