Students in The Foxfire School study the Hudson River and its relationship to science and mathematics. They focus on the rich heritage of the diverse people of Yonkers and the Hudson Valley, and on their lives, businesses and crafts. Faculty and staff strive to stretch every child to achieve mastery of state, city and school-developed standards. Teachers monitor the academic and social growth of individual students, leading them into new areas of understanding.
Responsible behavior by Foxfire School students, teachers, other district personnel, parents and other visitors is essential to achieving this goal. Foxfire School has a long-standing set of expectations for conduct on school property and at school functions. These expectations are based on the principles of civility, mutual respect, citizenship, character, tolerance, honesty and integrity. The staff and teachers work right along with parents to provide one of the best teaching experiences for pupils. There are several different cultures and religions attending Foxfire School so it has a very diverse background of students. Teachers are very committed to teaching these future adults by preparing them for grade advancements while preserving the ethics and cultural environment every parent expects.
