Riverside School is located at 409 Riverside Avenue in Elmira, New York and provides an excellent education for students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. In June of 2007, Riverside School was recognized by the New York State Education Department and was named a “rapidly improving” school. Riverside made Adequate Yearly Progress in English Language Arts, Math, and Science for the last three years and has improved in all subjects that were below state standards. There were only 226 schools that received this recognition in New York State.

Riverside teachers and staff pride themselves on creating a learning environment that adheres to the mission statement of the district while providing an atmosphere that helps students wish to achieve success in all they endeavor. Along with the basic educational needs the teachers strive to create a learning environment that will promote self-esteem, respect for others, and the appreciation of learning to last a lifetime. Along with this, the teachers and staff are committed to an educational atmosphere that treats each student as individuals with individuals needs.

Teachers, staff, and the community make efforts to work together to provide a safe learning environment for every student, so they can achieve success and become productive and caring members of their community.
