East Elementary School works toward being a school of excellence and adheres to the No Child Left Behind Act. There is considerable diversity, regarding both socio-economic and ethnic groups. Collective learning tools and programs come from utilization Saxon Math, Guided Reading, Scott Foresman Reading series, TASC science kits, Jr. Great Books and Study Island as resources as they differentiate instruction in every classroom. Classrooms use leveled books, novels, Accelerated Reader, Battle of the Books, and other classroom projects to enhance the joy and love of reading. The children at East Elementary begin to recognize the inseparable relationships among reading, writing, listening and speaking. They learn to read for enjoyment and information, expresses their own thoughts verbally and in written form, and asks relevant questions. The students are involved in inquiry within a structured math, science and technology program geared to fostering critical thinking and problem solving.
