Csi High School for International Studies is located at 2800 Victory Boulevard Staten Island, NY and serves grades 9. At College of Staten Island High School for International Studies as well as at other schools in Asia Society’s international school’s network, our curriculum prepares our students to be informed, ethical and active participants in a global society by infusing international content, issues and problem solving into all areas of study. Through this internationalized curriculum, using a project-based learning approach, by involving our students in their communities, and by having our students grapple with “real” global issues, we empower students to use global content to gain understandings about our world and as a vehicle for other learning.
CSI High School's consistent, curriculum-wide emphasis on the infusion of international content and study of international issues provides a unifying framework for the school's instructional program. This theme not only provides a common focus in the development and adaptation of course content, it stimulates the development of common habits of mind such as analyzing the validity of information from a variety of perspectives, exploring and understanding linkages across cultural, economic and political lines, and understanding the significance of the past with respect to current events.
As a benefit of our collaboration with the College of Staten Island, students will have access to the college’s wireless educational technology, the library, a multimedia language laboratory, science and computer laboratories, art spaces, and sports and recreation facilities. CSI college students will serve as tutors to work with all students as needed and English Language Learners will be matched with mentors. For advanced students, there will be ample opportunities for enrichment, including enrollment in credit bearing college courses.
