Arlington Middle School is located at 601 Dutchess Turnpike Poughkeepsie, NY. This school is part of the Arlington Central School District and the Board of Education is the official policy-making body for this school. The school attends to the educational needs for grades 6 through 8 and adheres to the belief that all students develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially at different paces. This public school is committed to the success of each child in a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.

Teachers at Arlington Middle School have worked hard over many years to develop a clearly articulated local curriculum that is aligned with state and national standards. The staff is proud of its curriculum and continues to work on revising and updating it cyclically.

Art is rich at this Middle school and the 8th grade Accelerated Art course is designed to provide students with opportunities to further their experiences in learning about art. This course offers several advanced units of study, and is meant to direct students toward some of the art courses offered at the high school. The course follows the Discipline Based Art Education philosophy in that it stresses four concepts: Art History, Art Production, Aesthetics, and Art Criticism. The course is geared for students that have an interest and some advanced ability in art as recognized by their previous instructors. For students to be considered for this program, they must complete an application.
