Syracuse City School District is located at 725 Harrison Street Syracuse, NY providing education for grades PK-12 in Onondaga County. This New York public school system set out on a mission to ensure that all students demonstrate mastery of defined skills and knowledge, appreciation of diversity, and development of character which will enable them to become productive, responsible citizens who can succeed in a rapidly changing world; this is accomplished, in partnership with our community, by transforming our educational system to respond to the unique needs of each student through excellence in teaching and learning.

Syracuse is home to Syracuse University, a major research university, as well as several smaller colleges and professional schools. The City of Syracuse officially recognizes 26 neighborhoods within its boundaries. Some of these have small additional neighborhoods and districts inside of them. In addition, Syracuse also owns and operates Syracuse Hancock International Airport, located on the territory of four towns north of the city.

The Syracuse City School District offers employment & educational opportunities, without regard to sex, race, color, religion, national origin or handicap. Students will find excellent counseling services available for academic, peer, social problems, or any other student issues. There are even special counseling groups for issues like self-esteem, divorce, and study skills. The Weedsport Central School District teaching philosophy is to inspire all students to become long life learners and be positive contributors to society.

Syracuse's neighborhoods reflect the historically divided population. Traditionally, German- and Italian-Americans settled on its north side; Polish- and Irish-Americans on its Westside; Jewish-Americans on the eastside; and African-Americans on its Southside.
