North Tonawanda City School District is located at 175 Humphrey Street North Tonawanda, NY. This public school system is located in Niagara County, New York, and provides education for grades PK-12. North Tonawanda is conveniently located between Buffalo and Niagara Falls at the junction of the historic Erie Barge Canal and the Niagara River. The Erie Barge Canal binds the city on the west by the Niagara River and on the south and east. The name "Tonawanda" was taken from the Tonawanda Creek, which flows into the Niagara River. "Tonawanda" is an Iroquois word meaning "swift running water."

Tonawanda City is known for its charm, small town atmosphere, and its upscale businesses. Residents are proud of their school, which provides a quality education while teaching students to become caring productive members of society and their community. The district itself prides itself on working with parents, staff, and the community to ensure every child understands that learning is not only in the classroom but extends to all many other activities throughout their lives.
