The district is home to two elementary schools, which are Windermere Boulevard and Smallwood Drive, Amherst Middle School, and Amherst High School. The district is home in Amherst, in Erie County northeast of Buffalo, New York.

Amherst Central School District offers a comprehensive educational program to all students, including those needing special education. Each elementary school provides an excellent educational program for students in kindergarten though 5th grade. The Middle School provides an education for students in grades 6th through 8th. The High school is the oldest facility in the district offering educational opportunities for students in grades 9th through 12th along with a variety of courses including numerous advanced placement courses.

The integrated learning environment incorporated by the district will enhance the teaching process in new ways, which will encourage problem solving, exploration and creativity in the classroom. The Amherst Central School District’s music and art programs have been recognized throughout the state for their excellence. The district takes pride in offering students a full range of interscholastic and intramural athletic opportunities along with the basic educational needs.
