Yorktown High School provides educational programs that promote the intellectual, personal, and social growth of all students. The curriculum is designed to meet the individual and varied needs of our students. They offer students a rigorous college preparatory program plus strong programs in Special Education, Business, and Occupational Education. All students are required to take four years of English. These courses prepare students for post-secondary study by emphasizing language usage, composition, and literature, speaking, and listening. English 11 students receive NYS Regents credit by taking the Regents Exam.
Mathematics courses are geared to match students’ abilities varying from Algebra to AP Calculus BC. All students are enrolled in the NYS integrated Regents Mathematics Program, which includes algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Programs within the Business Department include: Introduction to Business, Entrepreneurship, Small Business Ownership, Business Law and Sports Marketing. AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics are available as well.
Fine Arts department has a wide selection of electives culminating in AP Studio Art which requires a professional portfolio. Our Performing Arts opportunities include Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, HS Orchestra, Chorus, and Chamber Choir, all of which are offered at honors level. Coursework includes Music Theory, AP Music Theory, and Music in Our Lives, Theatre Arts, and Drama.
