Watervliet Junior-Senior High School athletic department believes that student-athletes grow mentally, physically, and socially through their involvement in sports. Hopefully, this growth will result in a healthy lifestyle which will be prevalent throughout their lives. Watervliet City School is governed by the New York State High School Athletic Association, Section 2, and the Colonial Athletic Conference, competing as a Class āCā sized school. The graduation rate remains an area requiring attention.
Seventy three percent of its student are graduating, leaving twenty seven percent of our student either as non-completers or still enrolled. This is an unacceptable statistic that must be improved immediately. Watervliet Junior-Senior High School still needs improvement and the District is still subject to the enhanced accountability of the Contract for Excellence. In response to this identification, the District administrators, faculty and staff have embarked on the second year of using a school improvement team addressing the achievement issues in a positive and effective manner.
