Tooker Avenue School knows that traditional educational practices no longer provide students with all the necessary skills for meeting the demands of the NYS Standards, or for economic independence and personal success in today’s workplace. Today’s educational setting must include strategies and tools to prepare students to meet rigorous academic standards, as well as all of the challenges life will throw at them. The setting must engage students in activities that combine educational technology skills and relevant curricular content. Tooker Avenue provides student centered instruction to improve academic performance in the area of literacy in order for all students to become proficient readers, writers, listeners and speakers. To ensure student success, a safe and orderly environment will be provided which fosters responsibility and respect for self and others. Students will read, write, listen, and speak for critical analysis and evaluation.
