Somers Senior High School now offer 16 Advanced Placement courses, several college level courses in math and foreign language, programs in media, marketing and graphic design, fashion and textile arts and technology. Nearly 95% of the students will further their education immediately after graduation with many of them attending highly competitive colleges and universities throughout the country. Somers is a student centered school focused on the academic, social and emotional needs of our students.
They encourage good habits of minds and strive for developing good thinking and an active participation in learning. Because of the district’s commitment to professional development, our staff is also encouraged to continue their learning, in their content area as well as in the use of technology and teaching techniques. This school has strong PTA support with target goals to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
