Smith Street Elementary School educate all learners to utilize technology for the purpose of problem solving, accessing and using information, making decisions in an information-rich environment, and communicating effectively as they live and work successfully in our global society. The efforts of the reading program are based on the following beliefs: all students will experience success, reading is a life-long skill, and reading is fun. The reading specialist works closely with the classroom teacher to best meet the individual needs of the child. The support can be provided in several ways. The reading specialist may go into the classroom or the students may go to the reading specialist’s classroom.
