Salamanca Alternative School is located at 79 River Street Salamanca, NY. Education is provided for grades 9th through 12 for the community of Salamanca in Cattaraugus County. The Alternative High School is for students who had problems that came up causing them to leave high school and not being able to receive a diploma. This The program was created to progress academic achievement and increase potential for success in high school, develop appropriate social skills, behaviors, and provide alternative avenues for learning and assessment. To receive GED diploma students will need to score at least 410 or more on each on the five tests, and an overall score of 2,250 or better.
The GED test designed to test the student’s abilities to apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information. Students will be graded on their knowledge of broad concepts as well as their ability to use knowledge, information, and skills to solve problems. Many of the students that graduate from Salamanca Alternative School go on to higher educational programs and receive advance degrees. This school provides a great second chance for students year after year, in a safe environment that promotes a sense of community, enhances a feeling of positive self-worth, and reduces the fear of failure.
