Rye Middle School grades 6-8 learn from teacher teams in the core academic areas. Teaching blocks include interdisciplinary studies. Foreign language (Latin, French, and Spanish) begins in sixth grade. Honors math and science are available for eligible students in Grades 7 and 8. Participation in the John Hopkins Academically Talented Student program by Rye Middle School students occurs yearly. Rye Middle School offers a challenging academic program and a rich array of electives. The strong developmental guidance program is designed to help the young adolescent navigate the sometimes turbulent waters of the years from 11 to 14.
It’s after school program has a variety of clubs and activities that will help the young adolescent explore new interests and further develop established ones. Team-oriented approach emphasizes problem-solving development designed to prepare students for the New York State assessments. A commitment to the New York State Essential Elements of Middle Schools focuses on the intellectual development and academic achievement of all students and the personal and social development of each student.
