Roanoke Avenue School is taught by outstanding teachers in learning areas such as; social studies, science, math, health, physical education, and the arts. Teachers work diligently to carefully blend the best practices of teacher-directed and student-centered instruction in their classrooms. During the past several years, the staff has participated in an intensive curriculum review. Roanoke teachers meet with the students to carry out social studies or science activities. Many of the science and social studies lessons incorporate hands-on, discovery type activities. Often, the children are divided into groups that are later rotated, so that all children have an opportunity to try each activity. The teachers are always available for questions and concerns form parents throughout the year.
