Putnam Valley Middle School is located at 146 Peekskll Hollow Road Putnam Valley, NY. Putnam County is situated in the southeastern part of New York State, between the Hudson River on its west and the New York-Connecticut border on its east. Putnam is southeast of Newburgh, and it is north of White Plains. The county has six public school districts: Brewster, Carmel, Garrison, Haldane, Mahopac, and Putnam Valley. Mahopac is the largest school district in Putnam County, educating more than 5,000 students in four elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. This New York Public School serves grades 5-8 in Putnam County of New York State.
Putnam Valley Middle School is the home of over 600 students in grades 5 through 8. We take pride in the fact that we help transition students from their elementary setting and prepare them to be successful in high school, truly being "in the middle." The dedicated and caring staff functions in a team setting utilizing a modified flexible block schedule. In addition to their Core programs of English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies all students are enrolled in our Encore program. Encores include Foreign Languages, Health, Art, Computers, Band, Chorus, General Music, Physical Education and Technology.
Putnam Valley Middle School offers a full array of clubs and activities both before and after school hours. We also have an active intramural and modified sports program.
The Middle School is involved in what is called a 1 to 1 Laptop program. Specifically, the program allows for every 6th, 7th, and 8th grader this year to have a laptop computer and to be able to bring it home to complete homework assignments and projects.
