P.S. 61 Early Childhood Center is located at 453 Leroy Avenue Buffalo, NY. This New York State School is committed to providing a well rounded curriculum designed to meet the needs and interests of our students. Education at this school starts at grade level PK and continues through the 4th in Erie County, of New York State.
The mission of Early Childhood Center #61 is to provide student centered instruction to improve academic performance in the area of literacy in order for all students to become proficient readers, writers, listeners and speakers. To ensure student success, a safe and orderly environment will be provided which fosters responsibility and respect for self and others. Students will read, write, listen, and speak for critical analysis and evaluation.
As listeners and readers, students will analyze experiences, ideas, information, and issues presented by others using a variety of established criteria. As speakers and writers, they will present, in oral and written language and from a variety of perspectives, their opinions and judgments on experiences, ideas, information and issues.
