P.S. 40 George W. Carver School creates a challenging atmosphere of care and concern where academic and social development of each student remains the goal of all. Each grade level curriculum is aligned with the New York State Learning Standards and enriched by an innovative reading series and technology instructions. The children learn how to locate materials and are encouraged to read independently. In Art the main objective is to provide opportunities for children to work creatively using a wide variety of mediums. P.S. 40 School education programs and services are designed to meet the varying needs of all students and will not discriminate against any individual for reasons of race, creed, color, gender, national origin, economic status or handicap. P.S. 40 Teachers work to ensure early literacy and language arts skills of the youngest students, ensuring their ability to read, write and think critically in all curricular areas including math, science, social studies, art, music, library skills, and physical education.
