P.S. 196 have a devoted staff that works hard to guarantee that each student will receive a quality education consisting of English language arts, social studies, science, math and interdisciplinary studies. Students also benefit from participating in chorus, band, orchestra, art, library, music, physical education, computer and various social skills groups. 196 uses a teaching strategy base on fundamental building blocks, designed to help them become independent and mature. These blocks support good personal traits like; gaining independence, becoming problem solvers, being good members of a community, and studying and learning in groups or by themselves. Teachers will increasingly be facilitators of student learning through proficient use of learning technologies. All teachers will receive intensive, job-embedded, ongoing professional development in integrating technology into curricula and instruction.
