Pequenakonck Elementary School

About  
Pequenakonck Elementary School Students in grades one through five can participate in the Student Council. Meetings are held after school each month and are facilitated by two staff members. In addition to the classroom curriculum, all children participate in programs provided by the art, music, library, and physical education specialists. On-line computers are available in the Media Center and all classrooms. Over and above the basic curriculum, the elementary program includes instrumental music classes, a grade 3 – 5 program for gifted youngsters, after-school activities, field trips, special education, speech and language services, remedial reading, remedial math and reading recovery.

Pequenakonck Elementary School has a staff consisting of a school nurse, psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, and a diagnostic team of teachers are available according to student needs. Their interdisciplinary, team-oriented approach emphasizes problem-solving development designed to prepare students for the New York State assessments. A commitment to the New York State Essential Elements of Middle Schools focuses on the intellectual development and academic achievement of all students and the personal and social development of each student.
