Oak Street School is located at 108 Oak Street Plattsburgh, NY. The school staff applies excellent teaching methods and standards for student learning, enrollments are for grades 3 through 5 for residents who live in Clinton County. Students at Oak Street School have ample opportunity to access computers. Each classroom has 5 computers and at least one printer. The Oak Street lab is outfitted with 24 iMacs. A teacher station allows the teacher to project images from the computer onto a large screen for instruction.
In addition, a small lab with 6 computers is located just outside the remedial suite. All the computers at Oak Street School have internet access. In addition, all students have a folder on the school’s server so that they can access their files and work on them from any computer in the building. The room also has a VCR, CD player and DVD player with stereo speakers hooked up to a projection system. Classrooms can go into the computer lab to watch movies and enjoy a theater-like atmosphere.
The school and the community are working and growing together in an open, nurturing environment. The aim is to instill in each child with the desire to achieve high standards. Included is excellence, social, emotional and physical skills. These goals will enable students to function as contributing members of society.
