Nokomis School follows the New York State Board of Regents adopted learning standards for all areas of study. The New York State Education Department issues the core curricula and these core curricula’s are the foundation upon which State assessments are aligned and developed. The staff and parents have high hopes for academic excellence, coupled with opportunities in the arts, athletics, and special areas encourage students to explore areas of interest and to achieve their best. They have a long-standing set of expectations for conduct on school property and at school functions. These expectations are based on the principles of civility, mutual respect, citizenship, character, tolerance, honesty and integrity. At Nokomis the physical education, health, music, art, library and technology programs are also an exciting part of each student’s instruction. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are emphasized, and promote excellence and lifelong learning.
