Newbridge Road School acknowledges that children can reach their potential with a positive learning environment filled with educational excellence and opportunities for hands on experimentation. They engage students in literacy activities in all grades using literature that is leveled and chosen especially for them. A new district wide initiative, Step Up to Writing, promotes student writing that supports multiple writing styles, language development, grammar, punctuation and the writing process. Writing is also integrated into other subject areas. For example, they are expected to write in math to explain how they solved a problem. Assessment occurs through teacher-directed assessments and through a New York State English language arts assessment administered to all grade levels.
