Neil Armstrong School is located at 3273 Lyell Road Rochester, NY. This public school is situated in Monroe County, New York and provides education for grades K through 5 to the Community of Rochester. Neil Armstrong School applies modern teaching methods that are approved by the New York State Board of education to ensure each student receives the best education possible.
In 1994 the Gates Chili Board of Education established School Improvement Teams in order to comply with Section 100.11 of the Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education that required school districts to establish a Plan for Participation by Teachers and Parents in School-based Planning and Shared Decision Making.
Under this plan, each school in the district formed a School Improvement Team composed of the School Administrator, three teachers, three parents, one non-instructional staff member and three students (Middle school and High school.)
Each year the SIT develops goals for improving the school. Some past goals have been establishment of the school supply store, Bus Rider of the Month program, involving students in contributing funds and materials to Camp Good Days and Special Times, the Habitat for Humanity Schoolhouse, developing a monthly news program entitled "Good Morning Neil Armstrong", and developing criteria for the quarterly award program.
