Mott Road Elementary School is located at 7173 Mott Road Fayetteville, NY providing education for grades K-4 in Onondaga County. The school is one of three elementary schools in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District. Instruction at Mott Road engages children in active learning experiences. Teachers create a learning environment that promotes creativity and differentiated opportunities for meaningful study. High expectations encourage all students to extend their thinking to reach their greatest potential as learners.
Developing confident, responsible students who are caring and accepting is a year-long focus in the classroom as well as through projects supported by an active Site-Based Team and HSA. Their character education project develops the key components of self, self and others and self and community. Students learn the importance of such personal qualities as flexibility, tolerance and respect through literature-based discussions and reflection. They are proud of the close community that has been established among staff, parents and students at Mott Road. We believe that students who are encouraged to achieve their personal best in a nurturing environment will grow to be self-reliant, productive adults.
Mott Road opened in 1958- the last of three elementary schools that were built between 1953 and 1958 to accommodate the rapidly growing Fayetteville-Manlius District. In 1980, Mott Road was closed as a school. At various times between 1980 and 1987, Mott Road housed the F-M District Offices and credit union as well as the district copying center. Space was also rented to a few preschools. The building was reopened as a K-4 elementary school in 1987. A major reconstruction project transformed office space to classrooms and a new library. Through the years, other projects included refurbishing the gym, adding an art, music and ESOL room as well as two kindergarten classrooms and four upper grade classrooms.
