Marathon Junior / Senior High School is located at 1 East Main Street Marathon, NY. Grades that attend this High school are 7th through 12th. The school has proven reputation for academic excellence and creative programming for the students in our community. The faculty is a dedicated and energetic group of professional educators who consistently invest a great deal of time and effort in developing their courses as well as offering great opportunities outside the classroom to our young people.
The local community area is rugged and hilly, the ridges rising from 500 to 700 feet above the valleys. The Tioughnioga River flows through the western part of the township in a deep, narrow valley, bordered by precipitous hillsides. Hunt creek, in the northwestern part of the town, flows through a narrow, deep valley, and Merrill creek, in the eastern part, flows through a similar valley.
This school has comprehensive academic programs provide each student with a strong foundation in the core curricula areas of language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. The physical education, health, music, art, library and technology programs are also an exciting part of each student’s instruction. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are emphasized, and promote excellence and lifelong learning.
