Leighton Elementary School is located at 1 Buccaneer Boulevard Oswego, NY and it serves grades K-6 in Oswego County. The school has a reputation for quality instruction and for the integration of many students with a wide range of disabilities. Parents and staff members participate in teams, committees, and sub-committees in a collaborative format in the continuous school improvement process.
The curriculum coordinator works closely with administration, grade levels, and departments to ensure that curriculum is continually being reviewed, evaluated, and adjusted to meet the needs of students. Additionally, staff analyzes state and local test results as a means of changing curriculum and instruction. The School works with technology integration and activities that provide opportunities for problem solving, students at the high school level they gradually become accountable for their own learning.
Parents are involved in many ways contributing to the success of the school to help guide the school board to ensure all students receive the best education possible while maintaining a social environment for the students to learn and grow into mature upstanding citizens.
