LaGrange Elementary School is located at 144 Todd Hill Road Lagrangeville, NY. This school is part of the Arlington Central School District and the Board of Education is the official policy-making body for this school. The school attends to the educational needs for grades K through 5 and adheres to the belief that all students develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially at different paces. This public school is committed to the success of each child in a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.
At Lagrange Elementary School officials believe that Learning seems to come in spurts and be followed by periods of strengthening through practice. Children's growth and development follow reasonably predictable patterns; however, parents should not compare one child with any other child, be it a sibling, friend, or relative.
Responsive Classroom is a school-wide initiative. It stresses cooperation, responsibility, independence, caring and self-control. It blends social learning with high academic standards. LaGrange Elementary School has received training form the Northeast Foundation for Children to implement Responsive Classroom.
Once a month, children in all classrooms will participate in a whole school community meeting. This models morning meeting and gives children the opportunity to have fun, to learn, to share and to practice respectful behaviors while building community. Each year, every grade level has an opportunity to facilitate the meeting.
