John J. Daly Elementary School students are active participants in the educational program, and the community acts as an extension of the program. Teachers function as facilitators in the learning process. The administration serves as the coordinator and harmonizer for the students, faculty and community. With these roles in mind, the goal is that each student shall have an opportunity to become an effective member of a democratic society.
At John J. Daly basic curriculum includes instruction in reading, phonics, language arts, spelling, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition, children attend physical education, art, and music classes. Spanish instruction is offered in grades 4 and 5 and Enrichment special interest groups are offered to students who meet the criteria. Guidance classes are also offered on a regular basis. In addition, students utilize the computer lab and the media center in conjunction with their basic studies.
