J Taylor Finley Middle School realizes that people are social creatures, the goal of the school is to foster a spirit of cooperation among all members of the educational community (a) that is developed through participation intellectual, social, and athletic activities and (b) which stresses the necessity to respect law in order to gain the benefits that are derived when individuals work together for a common cause. The instructional program emphasizes the mastery of language skills, the development of critical thinking skills, problem solving strategies and the ability to make decisions. The program also provides children with opportunities to study new subjects and to explore new interests. The co-curricular program offers children a chance to explore leisure activities and enrichment opportunities. They participate in a wide range of activities and learn the importance of cooperation and competition.
