J. D. George Elementary School is located at 5647 East Main Street Verona, NY providing education for grades PK-6. This New York public school is governed by the Sherrill City School District in Oneida County. Students will be working on activities which require them to use their thinking and communication skills to complete the task. Quality teacher questioning at various levels asks students about their knowledge, understanding and met cognition.
Teachers have an organized plan for focusing on and providing students with feedback about productivity; e.g., working well with others, how to follow directions and meet deadlines, knowing where/how to go for help, how to develop a plan to complete major projects. Teachers communicate regularly with parents about expectations for quality student work, providing examples of rubrics and assignments, and communicating the grading system will include returning work to the student if it is not up to quality standard. The student will then be expected to analyze that work, with teacher help if needed, and revise it to higher quality.
There are several nice educational programs that have been setup with the purpose of encouraging the growth and development of each child’s personal interest and capabilities. The staff and teachers work right along with parents to provide one of the best teaching experiences for pupils. There are several different cultures and religions attending this Elementary School so it has a very diverse background of students.
Teachers are very committed to teaching these young minds and prepare them for grade advancements while preserving the ethics and cultural environment every parent expects.
