I.S. 318 Math, Science & Tech through Arts School offers great opportunities for students to be producers rather than patrons of knowledge. It equips them with the ability to generate not only ideas but also the criteria with which to evaluate them. Students work in group activities as well as individually. Thus effective communication and decision making skills are fostered through group interaction, oral presentations and written work. The techniques, activities, and projects experienced in Project Extra are designed and taught to nurture the life long needs of the potentially gifted learner. These skills, techniques and activities are built upon each year as the students mature and become more cognizant of their own learning and environment. District Committees have the responsibility to ensure that all necessary procedures for the identification, evaluation, classification, placement and annual review of the status and progress of every student with a disability are carried out in accordance with federal and state law and regulations.
