I.S. 174 Eugene T. Maleska has a wonderful basketball team that continues to perform outstanding. Its special education program continues to be a great service for challenged students. IS 174 teachers work to provide a safe, supportive environment for children to achieve personal expression of ideas through speaking and writing and mastery of problem solving skills. The classroom environment is disciplined, structured, and inclusive so as to meet the needs of all students while fulfilling the mandate of excellence set forth in the New York State Standards and Assessments. Students enjoy the quality courses and the fun learning environment, which helps them appreciate learning, which will stay with them through their school years and beyond.
