Ichabod Crane Middle School is located at 2910 Route 9 Valatie, NY. This school accepts students from grades 6 through 8th in Columbia County of New York.
The Ichabod Crane Middle School houses three grade levels - sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Students in grades six, seven and eight are assigned to a team of four teachers who deliver the majority of the students' instruction.
In an understanding that no two students learn in the same way, each team utilizes a variety of instructional techniques including blocked periods, lecture, cooperative learning and projects. It is not uncommon to see a variety of student projects on display in the Learning Center throughout the school year.
In addition to social studies, math, science and language arts, students participate in a variety of special area classes including: reading, art, music, computers, technology, home and careers, physical education, band and chorus. A number of formal and informal programs are offered to help students who have difficulty learning, as well as for those students with disabilities.
