Horseheads Middle School is located at 950 Sing Sing Road Horseheads, NY. This school is located in Chemung County and provides education for grades 7 through 8 and it is part of the Horseheads Central School District. A typical school day contains nine periods, forty-five minutes each. There are three or four minutes between each period. Students are allowed to go to their lockers after each even period.
Each student is assigned a guidance counselor. A student will work with the same counselor for both years if at all possible. Counselors will be meeting with students individually and in groups. If students have any problem academically, socially or personally, the counselors encourage them to visit the guidance office and discuss the problem.
One of the things that make the Middle School so special is that students are on an academic team. Each team - designated by the colors red, white, and blue - has a core of teachers that meet every other day with the team's guidance counselor. They talk about the students' progress, upcoming lessons and tests, and any other topics that help them reach their goal of meeting all children's needs. Students at the Middle School have a wide range of opportunities, from academics to the arts and athletics.
