Holmes Elementary School is located at 365 Dupont Avenue in Tonawanda, New York. The school provides a quality education for students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grades.
The vision statement of Holmes Elementary School states, “Our Vision Statement:
To foster life-long learning through academic excellence, character and physical development, collaborative teamwork, creative expression, and cultural diversity, in an environment where a partnership exists between school, home and community.”
Holmes Elementary School teachers believe that learning is improved with an atmosphere of order and safety. Holmes Elementary School is recognized as a national school of Excellence, which is seen with the pride that is felt throughout the student body and the staff alike.
Throughout the district, each elementary school adheres to the second step program, which is a violence prevention program that was introduced to the district a few years back. The second step program at Holmes Elementary teaches students a variety of skills that centralize on the health of each student along with their social and emotional development. The skills that are taught include empathy, impulse control & problem solving and anger & emotion management.
Through a caring and safe learning environment, students grow to become productive members of society.
