High School Of Teaching, Liberal Arts & Science

About
High School Of Teaching, Liberal Arts & Science is located at 74-03 Commonwealth Boulevard Bellerose, NY and it provides education for grades 9-12 in Queens County. This New York Public School System is administered by the New York City Department of Education. The school serves a diverse, multilingual student population of recent immigrants to the United States. They seek to provide each student with a language-rich learning experience that moves them to a point where they can read, write and communicate effectively in English and their native language. The students will learn to use their minds well to critically analyze and respond to complex real-world issues. They will use what they learn to become successful academically and professionally and to become advocates for themselves and their communities.

The school staff acknowledges that all students are capable of learning, regardless of their abilities, race, color, national origin or creed, and works to make sure this responsibility is met. Key studies include language, math, art, technology programs, and an innovative music program. Policies of the School are set forth and advise students, parents, employees and the general public that it offers employment and educational opportunities, including vocational education opportunities without regard to sex, race, color, national origin or handicap. Effective instruction is a shared activity for the school to be successful, faculty must participate in the school-decision making process not only in the areas of instructional program design, curriculum development, and materials selection but also in peer selection, support, and evaluation.
