Greater Plains Elementary School is located at 60 West End Avenue Oneonta, NY and it serves grades PK-6 in Otsego County. The school is nestled at the base of a rolling hill where it is surrounded by a 26 acre Outdoor Education Nature Trail. Oneonta is known as the "City of the Hills" and is located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Greater Plains Elementary School believes that each child should become all he, or she, is capable of becoming. They believe that a Greater Plains education is defined by a student who can succeed at their next level of endeavor, who believes in worth and dignity of themselves and who will pursue life-long learning in an ever-changing, richly diverse society.
This New York School wants all students to be safe, engaging environment that values all members of the community and encourages them to pursue their full potential as life-long learners and respectful citizens. The teachers make every effort to incorporate literacy learning in all areas of learning: social studies, science, math, health, physical education, and the arts.
By integrating technology to enhance student achievement and literacy; to support standards-based instructional goals and delivery as well as technological literacy for the staff; provide administrative functions and data access through technology; and augment communication within the district and with parents and the community. The desired outcome of technology integration throughout all aspects of the educational process is to ensure that all students are well-equipped for the work place and/or post-secondary education.
